Staff of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in the ranks of the Terrorist Defense Forces and coordinate international humanitarian aid
From the first day of the full-scale Russian offensive invasion, employees of the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs of Ukraine from the central office and all territorial divisions have been defending Ukraine in the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces as well as coordinating international humanitarian aid.
Today, employees of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs in each region perform tasks as warriors of the Territorial Defense Force, as well as interact and help veterans who join the territorial defense units.
“Each of us is involved in the coordination of territorial defense units with other law enforcement units, we solve problems with staffing centers and military-civil administrations at the grass-root levels. Often these issues are beyond our competence, but now - martial law, so we solve any issues with the help of our friends. Thus, the representatives of our territorial departments within the territorial defense units collect problematic issues, including material and technical support, we systematize, summarize and solve them at the local level,” said Ruslan Prykhodko, Director General of the Directorate of Civic Identity and Veteran Development.
In addition, the staff of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs coordinate the receipt and search for humanitarian aid from abroad.
“This primarily concerns coordination between all the agencies, which are approached by both organizations and people from different countries with proposals for assistance. In addition, together with other agencies, we are working on the needs that exist both in the civil sector and directly in the field of medical care for Defenders. A large number of organizations and our citizens from abroad are now uniting and handing over equipment and medicines to Ukraine. This process is already well established. The customs is working very quickly, and we, for our part, are collecting and distributing aid according to the needs - we are directly involved in the logistics of humanitarian goods that are delivered to our border,” said Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Inna Drahanchuk.
The centers of social and psychological rehabilitation subordinated to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, are ready to host Women and Men Defenders. Some have already begun to do so. Our warriors have the opportunity to rest and recover after long battles there.
