Ministry of Veterans Affairs and Association of Ukrainian Cities signed a MoC on supporting veterans and their family members

On Friday, September 9, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine and the Association of Ukrainian Cities concluded a Memorandum of Cooperation on supporting veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war to ensure their social protection, promote social and professional adaptation, and provide psychological support.

The document was signed by the Minister of Veteran Affairs of Ukraine, Yuliia Laputina, and the head of the Association, Vitali Klitschko.

“With the beginning of the full-scale armed invasion of the russian federation into Ukraine, the state veteran policy underwent drastic changes. In close cooperation with the Office of the President, the Parliament, and the Government, we made essential changes to the current legislation and regulations in order to be able to finance programs aimed at effective support and adaptation of Ukrainian veterans and their family members during the war. They must be active participants in their communities, have all the necessary tools for self-realization and develop the economy. And the state - through the joint efforts of the central executive power and local government - should help them in this. Therefore, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs is ready to effectively interact and cooperate with local authorities for the sake of our Women and Men Defenders,” Yuliia Laputina emphasized during the signing of the Memorandum.

In his turn, Vitali Klitschko noted that one of the priorities of state and local politics should be to help our defenders not only at the front, but also in civilian life. And the quality of life of veterans and their families will depend on how the interaction between the state and local self-government bodies on the protection of war veterans will be established.

“Therefore, the Association of Ukrainian Cities signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine. Our goal is more effective interaction and coordination of efforts. In order for every war veteran and every member of his family to be able to exercise his right to social protection, social and professional adaptation and psychological support,” Vitali Klitschko underlined during the signing of the Memorandum.

Yuliia Laputina introduced to Vitali Klitschko the priority areas of work of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs during martial law, as well as current projects and programs to support veterans, their family members, and families of Fallen Women and Men Defenders of Ukraine.
